Is peanut butter safe for dogs?

According to the American Kennel Club peanut butter is safe for dogs to eat as long as it is fed in moderation and does not contain xylitol. Xylitol is a sweetener used by some companies. Once Again does not use xylitol and our peanut butter is 100% safe for dog consumption! Most of our peanut butter contains just one ingredient: peanuts. This is great news for pet owners who want to get a little creative with their dog treats and make these homemade dog treats.

Many dog treats found commercially already contain peanut butter. Your dog may know the taste well and be a fan already. You no longer need to drive to the pet store, or spend your money on expensive treats. A simple, 3-ingredient recipe will make delicious treats for your pup in under 30 minutes including baking time. All you need is a jar of our Once Again Creamy Peanut butter unsweetened, no salt added.

We also consulted the American Kennel Club before choosing our other ingredients to make these homemade dog treats. They advise against using the top 5 allergens to dogs which include beef, dairy, wheat, chicken and egg in that order. For this reason, we chose to use oat flour instead of wheat. Our other ingredient is banana, which is also safe for dogs.

The dough comes together easily. You can roll it out similarly to how you would prepare to do cut out sugar cookies. Choose your favorite shape, cut the dog treats and place them on a baking pan. Avoid adding any spices unless you consult with a veterinarian for safety first. Bake them for just under 20 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. We recommend keeping the sizes of the treats small so that you can let your puppy indulge in more than one treat per day. Store them in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

These are perfect for training puppies, or just rewarding your awesome dog after they cooperate during their daily walk. No need to worry about any additives or artificial ingredients, these homemade dog treats are safe and dog approved! And if you are wondering what these taste like, go ahead and try one! They are also human safe for consumption.
